The inagural year of New Voices was a great beginning!
Readings

By tradition, the festival begins at Buffalo Street Books with a series of micro readings (8 authors, 8 minutes a piece). Readings over the next two days take place at Ithaca's Handwerker Gallery. These longer readings give the author's a chance to more fully share works in progress.

Panels

Panels from the 2013 festival included: "From College Reader to College Writer," "Working For and With Magazines and New Media Publications," "The Writing Life," and "Subjects of Inspiration: Writing from Reseach and Imagination."

The 2013 Authors

The 2013 Festival featured writers Robin Ekiss, Rebecca Makkai, Nathaniel Rich, Jane Roper, Tim Horvath, Sheba Karim, Marie-Helene Bertino and Eleanor Henderson.

The 2013 Festival

Original Composition

The 2013 New Voices Festival featured an original composition by Ithaca College music student, Ian Wiese. Ian's composed a score around three poems by NV writer, Robin Ekiss. The event was so successful that we have invited Ian to compose for the 2014 festival, working with poems by Valzhyna Mort.
